MIA - a LifeNatur-projekt

The MIA project will be finished after turn of the year 2014/2015, but if you have any questions or concerns about the project and its areas do not hesitate to contact us!

The Final report, the Layman's report and other reports that has been produced in the project can be found here!

Through the project we’ll be able to recreate and secure the valuable environment that has, over the course of thousands of years, been created by nature and man around Lake Mälaren.

For everyone to be able to experience these environments, they are made readily accessible by creating new trails, viewing platforms and information boards. The main objective of the project is to create good conditions for a long-term management of the several different valuable habitats and species that can be found within the projects 42 different areas. These habitats, species and areas are all included in the EUs Natura 2000-network.

The project runs from 2009 to 2014 and is operated by the County Administration Board of Västmanland together with the County Administration Board of Södermanland and Uppsala, Sveaskog and Upplandsstiftelsen. The project is also funded by the EU and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency and the municipalities of Håbo, Enköping, Västerås and Köping.
